Another field is possible. Cooperative aesthetic march

In line with their participatory projects with different communities and collectives, the PSJM team is putting on a performance in collaboration with the Artá Cooperative. It’s an agricultural march, a kind of aesthetic march intended to bring hope for a future with a sustainable primary sector, both ecologically and economically. “Another field is possible” consists of a march through different streets of Artá, where farmers carry a series of “aesthetic banners” until they reach the town square. There, forming a circle, the participants recite a poetic speech.

The participatory process begins with an initial meeting with cooperative members to explain the idea and to listen to the demands, commitments, hopes, and collective projects for Artá’s primary sector. This approach values the environmental commitment and respect for the historical and natural heritage of the town of Artá, aiming to create a parade of geometric banners with visually concise messages. These are icons, graphic evocations of a sustainable future where agriculture can “take root.”

The symbols on the “aesthetic banners” are proposed by PSJM based on the information gathered during the first meeting with the cooperative members. A month later, during the CoolDays festival, a collective painting workshop is held with high school students, who use ecological acrylic paint to fill in the symbols previously outlined in pencil by PSJM. The following day, the march takes place with members of the cooperative and residents of Artá.

“Another field is possible” aims to express a different view of rural life—a cosmopolitan vision born from a love for the land and for the Earth.
